OSCE welcomes the adoption of anti-corruption laws in Brčko District of BiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, June 10 (FENA) - The OSCE Mission to BiH would like to commend the Brčko District Assembly for unanimously passing the new Law on the Office for Prevention of Corruption and Coordination of Activities in Combating Corruption, and the New Law on Protection of Persons who Report Corruption, during its session on 6th June.

Both Laws will provide a stronger and more adequate legal framework for combatting corruption, which represents a threat to BiH’s long-term stability and which unfortunately permeates all levels of society.

The establishment of a new Office for Prevention of Corruption and Coordination of Activities in Combating Corruption will have a key role in this effort, in particular by assessing the future BD draft legislation from an anti-corruption perspective.

At the same time, the Law on Protection of Persons who Report Corruption will ensure that citizens who stand up against corruption are protected from possible retaliation and that their voices are heard.

The OSCE Mission to BiH remains committed to providing its support to local institutions at all levels in the fight against corruption, stated the OSCE Mission to BiH.
