SARAJEVO, June 5 (FENA) – BiH Minister of Security Dragan Mektić today said that the Ušivak barracks in Hadžići should be available tomorrow for the accommodation of migrants.
"Starting tomorrow, we are supposed to have at our disposal the Ušivak barracks in Hadžići, which has a fairly large capacity, and then there will be some relief," Mr. Mektić told reporters in Sarajevo.
He added that it would be a daily operational activity which will be monitored and the measures and actions will be adjusted according to the situation.
He said that he was supposed to meet with prime ministers of the Una-Sana Canton and the Federation of BiH on Thursday afternoon in order to try to find a common solution for that canton, to check the possibility of using Agrokomerc's facility.
"There is no extraordinary situation at the moment, no exceptionally alarming situation. Everything is being done within institutions. We have received the confirmation that the RS MIA will deploy 60 police officers, and Brčko District police 15 police officers to help with the border protection. Technically, the police officers are now being introduced at the border and I hope that this will make good results,“ the BiH Security Minister said.
He notes that migrants arrive every day, that their number had declined sharply over the past 15 days, but that they had an unusual increase during the previous week.
„Up to now, as of 3 June, 5,300 of them has arrived, that is the actual number,“ Mr. Mektić said, noting that so far no one has been granted asylum.
