WARSAW / SARAJEVO, May 28 (FENA) - Chairman of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly (BiH PA) Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO (NATO PA), Nikola Lovrinović, took part in the NATO PA Spring Session which was concluded today in Warsaw.
During the session of the NATO PA Political Committee, held on the eve of today's plenary session, a discussion was held on the draft report of the NATO PA Partnership Subcommittee on the topic "Security in the Western Balkans".
Participating in the debate, Mr. Lovrinović requested that the report is updated with more specific data that would contain the status assessments, before the NATO PA annual session in November. In this way, Mr. Lovrinović emphasized, the security situation report for the Western Balkan countries would be usable and useful for all countries in the region, especially for BiH.
Such an approach by Mr. Lovrinović was accepted by the NATO PA Rapporteur, Canadian Senator Raynell Andreychuk, who confirmed that she would take constructive suggestions into the final text of the report.
Bosnia and Herzegovina was also mentioned at the plenary session, during which the participants of the Spring Session were addressed by the top officials of the Republic of Poland, as well as NATO PA President Paolo Alli and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
During the plenary session, a Declaration Affirming NATO's Unity and Credibility at the upcoming Brussels Summit was adopted.
In the part of the Declaration treating the Open Door Policy, it was emphasized that NATO countries are expected to assist Bosnia and Herzegovina in creating the conditions for activating the first NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP) without further delay.
The adopted Declaration deals with other issues as well, such as the fight against terrorism, dialogue with Russia, NATO and European Union cooperation, as well as issues of NATO funding and modernization, the BiH Parliamentary Assembly PR Department stated.
