TUZLA, May 28 (FENA) - At today's meeting in Tuzla, the representatives of the European Union Delegation to BiH with the representatives of the executive and legislative authorities of the Tuzla Canton, focused on the personnel capacities dealing exclusively with the issue of EU integration.
Representatives of the Tuzla Canton presented the results of the work done so far and stressed that the Tuzla Canton was the first in BiH to answer all their questions from the European Commission Questionnaire and that it has already established a team that is conducting processes and activities on the EU integration path.
Prime Minister of the Tuzla Canton Jakub Suljkanović pointed out that they expect from the EU representatives certain suggestions regarding the EU integration process of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The EU Delegation representatives stressed that they have already held meetings with representatives of six cantons in the Federation of BiH, and that the situation in all the cantons is more or less the same.
They singled out the lack of professional and skilled staff in the area of EU legislation and the EU acquis as probably the biggest problem at the moment.
“The ultimate goal of our mission is not the elections or the current situation in the Tuzla Canton, or the responses to the EC Questionnaire but we can talk about these things as well.
The main goal of our visit is to look to the future and strategic goals that the Tuzla Canton must put into practice, as well as the other cantons in their efforts to effectively participate in the process of European integration,” said Jan Snaidauf, Head of the Section for Political and Economic Affairs at the EU Delegation to BiH.
