Bosnian language introduced as elective class in New South Wales high schools

SARAJEVO, May 27 (FENA) - For the first time ever, this weekend marked the beginning of teaching the Bosnian language in secondary schools in New South Wales, Australia. 

The class of students, originating from Bosnia and Herzegovina is led by teacher Lejla Lihovac under the supervision of Director of the Bosnian School in Liverpool, Đenita Čengić Karup. 

As the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Canberra announced, this great result came thanks to the efforts of people who have worked hard for several years, and who now succeeded in this noble intent with the support and cooperation of the Embassy of BiH in Australia. 

Thus, from now on, every Saturday during the school year, at the premises of the Liverpool High School, students will be able to attend the Bosnian language class.  

This is a very significant moment for the Bosnian community in New South Wales, as the act of incorporating the Bosnian language into the public education process, the Bosnian language becomes one of the elective subjects for the students in state schools.  

The Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina expressed gratitude and conveyed congratulations to all individuals and organizations in New South Wales who have contributed to this important success of the BiH community in Australia.
