SARAJEVO, May 23 (FENA) - The Deputy Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance and Treasury Vjekoslav Bevanda met today with the Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s Office in BiH, Ian Brown, and Franklin Steves, the bank’s Senior Investment Advisor, with whom he discussed the projects that are in progress and future activities financed by the EBRD in BiH.
They also discussed the current situation regarding the accumulation of toll revenues at the special sub-account of the Central Bank of BiH.
Minister Bevanda, who is also chairman of the Managing Board of the Indirect Taxation Authority, said that there was no agreement among the entities regarding the way tolls are distributed, due to which the conditions for the money to be paid to public entity companies for the construction of highways were not created.
During the meeting, the collocutors also discussed providing support to the private sector in BiH, which the EBRD would support through the Council of Investors, but these activities are only in their infancy, although a Memorandum of Understanding between the BiH Council of Ministers and the EBRD had been signed earlier.
The interlocutors agreed that it was necessary to include lower levels of government in these projects because of the competencies they have and better operational capabilities so that there would not be a delay in the initiated reforms that need to accelerate the investment processes, the BiH Ministry of Finance and Treasury stated.
