SARAJEVO, May 20 (FENA) - European states claiming to be a cradle of democracy failed today, and BiH showed it is a democratic state by its actions, said President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the 6th Congress of the Union of European Turkish Democrats (UETD) in Sarajevo.
He emphasized he delivers regards of 80 000 million Turks to BiH, the country of love and hospitality.
“True friendship was demonstrated today. BiH people have shown that our multi-century friendship and unity goes on and it is long-lasting,” said Erdoğan.
Erdoğan remembered his meeting in Sarajevo with the first president of the Republic of BiH Alija Izetbegović.
“He told me 'Erdogan my son, take care of this area'. We have never seen Bosnia as other area, we have always been and will always stand by BiH,” said Erdoğan.
Addressing Turkish citizens who live in European countries, he emphasized importance of preservation of religion and language.
“Teach your children their mother tongue. Secure they have the best education, they should know Turkish language well, but also German, English and all other languages. Of course, we cannot neglect Bosnian language,” emphasized Erdoğan.
Congress in Zetra gathered numerous Turkish citizens from Europe, mostly from Germany and Holland, but also from Austria, Czech and other countries.
