SREBRENICA, May 16 (FENA) - US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Maureen Cormack told the media during a visit to the Srebrenica municipality that she had discussed at today's meetings the issues that are important for every municipality.

"We talked about economic development, political issues, education, and healthcare. We also discussed plans for this year's marking of July 11th. Like every year, I plan to be in Srebrenica on July 11th, and on July 10th I will take part in the Peace March," Ms. Cormack said, adding that she is satisfied with the support to demining on the route of the Peace March.

She believes that the citizens of Srebrenica deserve economic development, stability and security.

“I really hope that all the various political parties will work together for the benefit of all citizens of Srebrenica,” Ms. Cormack said.

She commented on the announcement of Plan B by Dragan Čović, president of the HDZ BiH.

“Parliamentary leaders need to work hard to resolve all issues. Elections are a fundamental principle of democracy and it is not enough to just hold elections, it is necessary to implement the election results. Along with colleagues from the European Union, we worked with political leaders, political parties. Suggestions of various solutions were presented. There are solutions, but the political leaders should work to reach an agreement,” Ms. Cormack underlined.

President of the Srebrenica Municipal Assembly, Alija Tabaković, told FENA that he had informed Ambassador Cormack about the current political situation in Srebrenica, the position of Bosniaks in Srebrenica, and the problems that Bosniaks face. Mr. Tabaković expressed his gratitude for Ambassador Cormack’s visit.

“We discussed the marking of July 11, as well as some future plans of political action within Srebrenica. At the meeting, we discussed the political functioning in the Municipality of Srebrenica when it comes to discrimination of Bosniak children through the education system. We also talked about the National Park "Drina", which was adopted by the RS National Assembly and many other problems that are happening inside Srebrenica,” Mr. Tabaković said.
