SARAJEVO, May 7 (FENA) - The foreign trade exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first quarter of 2018 amounted to 7.34 billion KM, with the import-export ration of 63.9 percent, it was stated today at the presentation held at the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH.
Representatives of FTC BiH pointed out that BiH exported goods in the amount of 2.86 billion KM, which is 11.81 percent more than in the same period last year, while it imported goods amounting to 4.48 billion KM, or 10.23 percent more than in the first quarter of 2017.
The foreign trade deficit amounted to 1.61 billion KM and it was increased compared to the deficit in the first quarter of 2017, which amounted to 1.5 billion KM.
The most important trading partners of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the abovementioned period were: Croatia, Serbia, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Turkey, Hungary, Russia and Switzerland.
There has been noticeable increase in imports from the Russian Federation by more than 300% compared to last year, with a decrease in exports by about 40%.
The decline in exports and imports occurred with the United States, while there has been increase in exports and imports with PR China.
The exchange in the agro-industrial sector resulted in a deficit of 517.7 million KM, which confirms the fact that BiH imports about 75 percent of all the food products.
As the main cause of the high deficit in the foreign trade balance they singled out the nature of the products traded, as BiH mainly exports lower value added goods, while it imports higher value added goods.
