SARAJEVO, May 2 (FENA) - The Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina has announced, as in previous years, a public call for admission of young soldiers to the Armed Forces. This year, 815 young people will get a chance to join the military service.

The public call was announced on April 27 and is open for 21 days. Head of the Department for Admissions, Retention and Reserves in the Ministry of Defense of BiH Enes Hadrović told FENA that the BiH AF with the admission of 815 soldiers is renewing the military staff and maintains operational capabilities of the Armed Forces.

“All candidates who have completed secondary school as well as secondary school graduates that meet the requirements under the BiH Defense Law and the Ordinance on Military Recruitment are eligible to apply,” said Hadrović.

The recruitment is scheduled for September and December in two classes, the first class of 408 candidates, and the other of 407, and these are respectively the 20th and 21st classes of the candidates for the Armed Forces of BiH.

Hadrović pointed out that the candidates who are admitted to professional military service will sign a three-year contract that could be extended to the age prescribed by the law.

He emphasized that, thanks to the selection system, only the best personnel is admitted to the Armed Forces of BiH, which is reflected in the results that BiH soldiers show in trainings and exercises in the country and abroad.

As in previous years, this year, a quota of ten percent is planned for female officers.

He also reminded that only 23 women responded to the first public call for the Armed Forces in 2008, while the number has now increased to several hundred women.
