SARAJEVO, April 27 (FENA) - A workshop on combating illicit trade in cultural goods was organized by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina today in Sarajevo, with the aim of strengthening the capacities of the competent institutions in this field.
Participants of the workshop were informed about various topics related to different experiences in the fight against illicit trade in cultural goods, as well as on matters of restitution of objects of cultural importance, preventive measures and risk mitigation.
The workshop in Sarajevo gathered 50 participants from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of various institutions working on issues related to the fight against illicit trade in cultural goods.
Experts from France, Italy, Slovenia and Poland, with representatives from Serbia and Croatia presented their experiences in this field.
Organization of this two-day workshop was facilitated thanks to the contribution of the European Commission through the TAIEX instrument, with the support of the Embassy of France and UNESCO.
The Embassy of France provides strong support to capacity building in this field, and thanks to the established cooperation between the National Museum and the Louvre Museum, French experts shared their experiences with the participants at the aforementioned workshop, stated the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs.
