Chhabra: BiH and India have good political, cultural and economic cooperation

SARAJEVO, April 27 (FENA) – Non-resident Ambassador of India situated in Budapest Rahul Chhabra gave a lecture to students of the University in Sarajevo today on "Political, Economic and Cultural Aspects of Cooperation between India and BiH “.

Chancellor of the UNSA Rifat Škrijelj welcomed Ambassador Chhabra, Secretary of the Embassy Sanjeev Manchanda, professors and students.

He said, inter alia, there is a mutual wish to enhance cooperation between BiH, UNSA and India, which will not only result in promotion of national interests in international relations, but it will also provide opportunity for more significant economic presentation of BiH in Asia.

Škrijelj hopes that bilateral diplomatic relations between the two friendly states will be raised to a level of resident ambassadors.

During his lecture, Ambassador Chhabra spoke about relations between BiH and India in area of politics, trade, education and culture, as well as modern India and future perspectives. He reminded of good historic cooperation from the period of ex Yugoslavia, that it continued and they are working on enhancing it.

"Ties with BiH are even stronger in modern India. There are no open issues between the two countries. We have good political, cultural and economic cooperation," said, among other things, Ambassador Chhabra.

He said that BiH supports India in foreign policy, but India also supports BiH on all levels, and he gave example of programs of yoga, Indian dance and art evenings that are held in BiH.

He added they are especially working on enhancing economic cooperation between BiH and India and that thousands of workplaces have been open in India for BiH citizens.

Delegation of 15 Indian businessmen is participating in Sarajevo Business Forum 2018.

"Our delegation extended their stay in BiH and is having intensive negotiations with business partners in BiH. Good results that have been achieved will bring even better and stronger economic cooperation between the two states," said Chhabra.

Businessmen from India are interested in cooperation in area of medicine and their intention is to open a medical university in BiH, Ambassador said.

He reminded that relations between BiH and India are especially good in area of culture.
