Ministry donates meteorological equipment to BHANSA with the assistance of Japan

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, April 27 (FENA) - Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Pejić and the head of the Sarajevo Airport Access Control Unit Mirsad Hadžialić signed yesterday a document on the handover of meteorological equipment provided in the framework of the implementation of the non-project assistance grant from the Government of Japan approved for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Secretary Pejić emphasized the importance of the donation and stressed that it would be used to obtain meteorological data at the location of the Sarajevo International Airport near the RWY12 runway and Bukovik location, needed for the operations of the meteorological service of Airport Access Control Unit (AACU) Sarajevo.

The head of AACU Hadžialić expressed his gratitude to the Ministry, as well as the Government of Japan for obtaining funds, stressing that they were planning to replace the old system set up 18 years ago, that is, to set up an automatic station that would be some kind of a sensory support for conducting operational activities.

The meteorological equipment was secured on the basis of the Agreement between the BiH Council of Ministers and the Government of Japan signed in 2014 within the framework of the implementation of the non-project assistance grant approved by the Government of Japan in the fiscal year 2013 in order to improve the economic and social development of BiH.

Part of this grant, in the amount of about 570,000 euros, is intended for the transport sector in BiH, that is, for the procurement of meteorological equipment. The value of the meteorological equipment donated to BHANSA, as the end user, is around 300,000 KM, the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina stated.
