SARAJEVO, April 26 (FENA) - Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH Ismir Jusko yesterday took part in a ministerial meeting with Commissioner Violeta Bulc and representatives of European financial institutions. The meeting at the highest level was also attended by the representatives of the Republic of Turkey.
In her introductory statement, Commissioner Bulc stressed the significance of the signing of the Transport Community Treaty, stressing that one of the priorities of the European Commission is coordination and cross-border cooperation, with special emphasis on the countries of the Western Balkans.
She stressed that road safety is not a political issue, and that the European Commission expects the consensus of all participants, while positively assessing BiH's progress in strategic approach, infrastructure connectivity and road safety.
Minister Jusko in his presentation emphasized the importance of developing transport networks in order to reduce the differences in the degree of development, highlighting the importance of engagement of the Republic of Turkey in connecting Sarajevo and Belgrade with road infrastructure.
The minister also spoke about the effects of the amendments to the Law on the Basis of Road Safety and the recorded decrease in the number of fatal accidents, which in the Federation of BiH fell by 41.86 percent.
At the end of the ministerial meeting, the participants unanimously supported the Declaration on Road Safety that the Ministry will forward to the competent authorities in a regular procedure.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Jusko and the Secretary of the Ministry Igor Pejić agreed the end of June for Commissioner Bulc’s official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BiH.
