EC Interim Report on BiH handed to members of both Houses of BiH PA

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, April 18 (FENA) - The Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina and EU Special Representative for BiH, Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, handed today to the members of the collegiums of both Houses of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly (BiH PA) the Interim Report of the European Commission on Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As the collocutors of the meeting, Ambassador Wigemark and members of the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the BiH PA stressed, the Interim Report elaborates, among other things, basic areas such as the rule of law, issues of public administration reform as well as economic reforms and development, and emphasizes the need for changes in electoral legislation in BiH.

Some of the members of the collegiums assessed that this document might lack a more specific marking of the forces and individuals who have worked more on the BiH’s path toward EU than those who have obstructed these processes because a balanced and universal approach such as the one used in the Report may further encourage those who slow down the European path of BiH.

The collocutors emphasized that this report should be used as an additional incentive and focus on stronger and more comprehensive reforms, the BiH PA Public Relations Department stated.
