Zvizdić: Digitalization a great opportunity for countries of the region

SARAJEVO, April 18 (FENA) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić attended Digital Summit in Skopje today on "Integration of Six Western Balkan Countries to Pan-European Digital Market".

Summit was opened by Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia Zoran Zaev, who said that meeting of the Western Balkan officials is an opportunity to enhance cooperation in all segments.

During his address Chairman Zvizdić congratulated citizens of Macedonia on receiving a positive opinion on progress, which representatives of the European Commission presented yesterday.

Chairman Zvizdić also talked about the need of quality development of digital markets in accordance with overall changes and adjustments in way and structure of communications. He emphasized it is necessary to adopt digitalization strategy for all countries in the region, as well as quality education in this area and further development and strengthening of digital infrastructure, adding he is pleased that a long year action plan for regional economic space started being implemented, stressing digital connectivity of the region is one of the segments of this plan.

"Importance of integration of the Western Balkans within the Pane European digital market is an important segment of our regional cooperation. Importance of digitalization has been additionally recognized by the European Commission, because digital economy and digital skills are priorities of the Bulgarian chairmanship in the first half of 2018.

I find that the digitalization process, that would be an integral part of functioning of governments, business communities and education system, is one of the key preconditions for economic growth. At the same time, it is a big opportunity for countries of the region, as well as for BiH, because it brings investments and progress that leads to historic changes in business works," said Chairman Zvizdić while addressing at the Digital Summit in Skopje, BiH Council of Ministers stated.
