SARAJEVO, April 18 (FENA) - A Delegation of Swedish National Courts Administration with associates from district courts in Ystad and Malmö paid a working visit to the Basic Court in Bijeljina.
The Court President Aid Hanušić officially welcomed the guests and the meeting was attended by the representatives of the Secretariat of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC).
They discussed the positive results the Court had achieved over the past three months, applying the recommendations of their Swedish colleagues, experts on the project of reorganization of work processes and more efficient work of non-judicial staff.
Specifically, with the new way of working and the support of trainees on administrative tasks, the judges of the Basic Court in Bijeljina in the period between 1 January and 30 March 2018 resolved a total of 1,730 cases (civil, misdemeanor and uncontested), or 728 cases more than in the same period of 2017.
The topic of the meeting was also the strengthening of the role of the court president as the court manager, the problems that court and non-judicial staff are faced with in their work.
They also discussed the future cooperation and planning of further activities of the ICEA Project focusing on the internal reorganization of courts and human resources in courts in order to perform tasks and work processes in the courts even faster and better by reducing the number of unresolved cases while at the same time providing faster and better service to the citizens.
Cooperation with Swedish judicial institutions should contribute to shorter procedures, reduce backlogs, reduce court costs through the more rational use of human resources, and at the same time achieve better motivation for all employees in the courts.
The visit of the Swedish high-level delegation is a continuation of the one-year activities on the improvement of the internal organization of the courts, and the faster and better quality of work and work processes in the BiH Courts in cooperation with the Swedish National Courts Administration within the Project of Improving Court Efficiency and Accountability of Judges and Prosecutors in BiH - Phase II (ICEA Project), implemented by the BiH HJPC and funded by the Government of Sweden, the BiH HJPC PR Service stated.
