Izetbegović: BiH can become a stable European state in the next 10 years

FENA Press release

BRUSSELS/SARAJEVO, April 18 (FENA) - Chair of the BiH Presidency Bakir Izetbegović, Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg and ambassadors of the Quint exchanged views on situation in BiH yesterday, agreeing that BiH has made significant progress in the Euro-Atlantic integration process.

Izetbegović emphasized that despite challenges and resistance, significant progress has been made over the past three years.

He pointed out that Presidency of BiH paid special attention to all integration processes and that strategic documents were adopted by consensus, such as BiH Foreign Policy Strategy 2018-2023, Defense Review and Plan of Modernization and Development of Armed Forces of BiH 2017-2027.

Izetbegović also informed Stoltenberg about implementation of activities in terms of activation of the Membership Action Plan.

He said that recently adopted Foreign Policy Strategy of BiH stresses that further activities related to NATO remains a priority of BiH institutions and that activities will primarily focus on activation and implementation of MAP, for which there is a wide political consensus in BiH.

Izetbegović said that BiH can become a stable and prosperous European state in the next 10 years, but it needs support on that path, Presidency of BiH stated.
