SARAJEVO, April 16 (FENA) - Members of the Defense and Security Committee and the Sub-Committee on Future Security and Defense Capabilities of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) met today with members of collegiums of both Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, members of the Joint Defense and Security Committee of BiH as well as with the members of the BiH PA Delegation to NATO PA, who are also hosting their multi-day visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As stated, the goal of the visit is to talk with key political actors in BiH about the current political and security situation in BiH and to look at the situation in BiH's defense and security sector as well as the status of the European and Euro-Atlantic integration processes.
During today's meeting, guests had the opportunity to get acquainted with the range of attitudes about BiH's current moment and its path to membership in NATO alliance.
Head of the BiH PA Delegation to NATO PA Nikola Lovrinović pointed out today that it should not be ignored that the attitudes towards BiH accession to the NATO alliance differ in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska, but that does not mean that their rapprochement cannot be worked out and that such disagreements are also present when it comes to Membership Action Plan (MAP) and achieving the desired high standards, the BiH PA PR Department said.
Members of the Defense and Security Committee and the Sub-Committee on Future Security and Defense Capabilities of NATO PA continue their work visit to BiH with a series of meetings with senior officials of the BiH Ministry of Defense, the BiH Ministry of Security, the Armed Forces Joint HQ, representatives of the academic community and non-governmental sector as well as the commanders of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo and EUFOR for BiH.
