SARAJEVO, April 15 (FENA) – Concentration camp survivors, veterans of Army of RBiH and citizens marked the anniversary of formation of infamous concentration camp "Batković" with Al Fatiha prayer and flower laying ceremony yesterday.
Concentration camp "Batković" was one of the biggest camps in BiH, where civilians from different parts of the country were tortured.
More than 4 000 inmates from Banja Luka, Prijedor, Bosanski Novi, Sanski Most, Ključ, Kotor Varoš, Teslić, Travnik, Doboj, Kupres, Jajce, Mrkonjić Grad, Bosanska Gradiška, Derventa, Bosanski Šamac, Brčko, Modriča, Tuzla, Kalesija, Osmak, Sokolc, Zvornik, Vlasenica, Šeković, Janja, Bijeljina and other parts were imprisoned in this camp.
President of Association of Concentration Camp Inmates of BiH Jasmin Mešković reminded that at least 80 inmates were killed in the camp.
Camp worked until the end of January 1996.
“Survivors visited the sites where they were tortured. They went through pain and humiliation one more time. It was a camp where they were tortured, sexually abused and used as a human shield and around 200 were killed that way,” Mešković told FENA.
Representatives of numerous associations, citizens and former inmates urged judicial institutions of BiH to prosecute all those responsible for crimes in "Batković" and other concentration camps.
