SARAJEVO, April 13 (FENA) - Italian Ambassador to BiH Nicola Minasi has called on young people aged 6 to 25 to apply for a photo contest "MojaBiH" by 1 May to portray and share what they, through their own eyes see as the best representation of what Bosnia and Herzegovina is today.

“We want young people to think and represent BiH to the rest of the world, and this is also suggested in the Strategy for the Western Balkans,” said Minasi today at a press conference at the Embassy, where a promotional video was presented, in which BiH artists Damir Nikšić, Zenit Đozić and director of the Sarajevo National Theater Marija Hašimbegović also took part.

A photographer from BiH Almin Zrno is one of the members of the expert jury who will decide on the winners in three categories: participants - individuals aged 6 to 12, then 13 to 18 years of age, and participants from 19 to 25 years of age.

The photo contest is one of a series of initiatives in the framework of the Month of Italian Photography in BiH, supported by UNICEF and OSCE missions to BiH.

“One of the reasons for this is that this photo contest allows children to express themselves creatively, which is one of the basic rights of children under the UN Convention. We often forget about this, as well as the fact that children participate in different aspects of society,” said UNICEF representative in BiH Geeta Narayan.

Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH Public Affairs Department Željka Šulc pointed out that the contest "MojaBiH" was launched under the chairmanship of Italy of the OSCE in 2018, whose motto is "Dialogue, Ownership and Responsibility".

“The European Union declared the year 2018 as the Year of European Cultural Heritage, which will be marked with a series of activities in countries in Europe, as well as in BiH in order to promote our common cultural heritage.

In this context, the EU - Western Balkans: The Path of Cultural Heritage website has been launched includes this competition,” said the spokeswoman of the EU Delegation to BiH, Zora Stanić.

As part of the Month of Italian Photography in BiH, Ambassador Minasi announced that the Embassy will host an exhibition of works by Jannis Kounellis at the Sarajevo City Hall on April 17, which will be opened by Sarajevo Mayor Abdulah Skaka.
