ZVORNIK, April 12 (FENA) - The hunger strike of parents and children from the Liplje settlement in Zvornik was ended last night because we have been promised by the authorities that our demands will be met, confirmed to FENA today Muharem Sinanović, one of the eight parents who last night had to resort to this method of fighting for the right of their children to study Bosnian language.
"We had talks last night with the Zvornik Mayor, representatives of the educational system and Principal of Sveti Sava Primary School Radomir Petrović and they agreed to send a response to the RS Ministry of Education by Wednesday to meet our demands," Mr. Sinanović claims.
He is convinced that this problem with the name of the language will finally be solved.
He says that the children have gone to classes today after they and their parents last night ended a day-long hunger strike.
"We have concluded that it is not good to bring the children into this situation because of the hunger strike. We have received the promise and we believe that it will be fulfilled,” Sinanović said.
The Bosniak children from this local school in Liplje near Zvornik have not gone to school since the beginning of the second semester, because their parents demand that “Bosnian language”, not “Bosniak language”, is written in their report cards.
