SARAJEVO, April 5 (FENA) - European Parliament's Rapporteur for BiH Cristian Dan Preda said today in Sarajevo that he was convinced that Bosnia and Herzegovina would become a member of the European Union.
After meeting with the Reisu-l-ulama of the Islamic Community in BiH, Husein ef. Kavazović, Mr. Preda said that he believed that BiH has all the resources and prerequisites needed to become an EU member.
"It is now up to Bosnia and Herzegovina to make it happen, not to the European Union. Integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the EU will be carried out by Bosnians and Herzegovinians and we are waiting for you," Mr. Preda said, adding that he would also say this to the young people he will give a lecture to.
He stressed that he was very happy about the meeting with Rais Kavazović because all BiH politicians are pessimistic so he must hold meetings with religious leaders in order to find optimism.
Reis Kavazović said he spoke with Mr. Preda on matters of importance to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Islamic community.
"We wanted him to encourage the young people to stay here, to fight for their country and to develop it," Mr. Kavazović emphasized.
He also added that he wanted Mr. Preda to send young people a message that Europe is with BiH and that they are not left behind, that they would certainly build their future in Europe.
