Rajko Janković sentenced to seven years for war crime in Vogošća area

SARAJEVO, March 27 (FENA) - The Sarajevo Cantonal Court (KSS) today sentenced Rajko Janković (1963) for war crimes against civilians and sentenced him to seven years in prison.

According to the pronounced first instance verdict, Janković has been found responsible for the war crimes committed in the Vogošća area in August 1992.

According to the claims of the prosecution for which he has been found guilty, Janković was charged with arriving to the home of a Bosniak family on 20 August 1992, armed with an automatic rifle, and forced two persons from the household to step outside and after their mother came out saying that the persons e asked for were not there, he fired several shots in the direction of the house, causing the injuries to the woman from which she bled and died on the spot.

After assessing the evidence, the Court did not accept the testimony of the defense witnesses regarding the alibi for the defendant.

At the same time, the damage claims of the injured party for compensation of the non-pecuniary damage were fully adopted.
