A reception on the occasion of National Day of Pakistan held in Sarajevo

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 26 (FENA) - The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Sarajevo today hosted a reception on the occasion of the National Day of Pakistan that is celebrated on March 23.

Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Salim Nawaz, in his welcoming speech, thanked everyone for joining the celebration of the 78th National Day of Pakistan in Sarajevo.

He emphasized that he felt privileged because he had the opportunity to celebrate this day with the wonderful people of this country and representatives of the international and diplomatic community.

“This great day is celebrated every year throughout the world in recognition of the adoption of the Resolution on March 1940 in the City of Lahore, when the Muslims of the then State of India decided to establish a separate homeland in South Asia, inspired by the vision of the great philosopher and poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal and the great leader Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Just as the founder of the nation and our great leader of Qaid, Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah conceived, our foreign policy is based on good will and friendly relations with the rest of the world and strives to achieve a long-held vision of peace and prosperity for Pakistan as well as stability in the region and wider, "said Nawaz.

As envisioned by the founder of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam, the great leader, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, our foreign policy is based on goodwill and friendliness with the whole world and seeks to realize the cherished vision of peace and prosperity for Pakistan as well as stability in the region and beyond,” said Nawaz.

Furthermore, he added that Pakistan is making serious efforts for improvement of relations with neighboring countries. To this end, Pakistan supports all efforts for peace, prosperity and stability in Afghanistan.

Nawaz also noted that Pakistan is keen for early resumption of structured dialogue with India for peaceful resolution of all issues including the longstanding Kashmir issue. These efforts have received widespread support from within the country as well as global fraternity.

“The Kashmir issue is a dispute between Pakistan and India, and whereas Pakistan supports early and peaceful resolution of this dispute, it takes two to tango. There is a need for India to realize this in order to avoid any further waste of time.

Today, Pakistan has excellent relations with almost all nations. We will continue to strengthen these friendly ties further, for the prosperity and progress of people of Pakistan and the entire world,” stated Nawaz.

Nawaz also added that Pakistan and Bosnia and Herzegovina enjoy excellent, brotherly relations, which are manifested by the immense goodwill existing between the two sides.

“I avail this opportunity to reaffirm to the leadership and the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina that Pakistan has a sincere desire to further strengthening and enlarging existing relations in all fields of mutual interest. On behalf of my country, I congratulate Bosnia and Herzegovina for successfully completing and handing over the responses to the EC Questionnaire. We wish you all the success in this regard,” said Ambassador Nawaz.

He underlined that Pakistan, by virtue of its great multifaceted potential, as also its very important geo-strategic location, has a significant role in the region in particular, and by the same reason, in the world in general.

“Pakistan knows it well and is playing its role effectively with grace and in the process, has rendered unparalleled sacrifices. Therefore, despite multiple challenges, Pakistan is fast progressing towards peace and development.

The security situation in Pakistan today is far better than what it was a few years back. One of the reasons is that Pakistani state and society have shown zero tolerance for terrorism and the nation is determined to eradicate it from the roots. Foreign investments have largely increased which shows investors’ confidence in our economic security and foreign policies. We as a nation are committed to peace, progress and prosperity in Pakistan and around the globe,” concluded Ambassador Nawaz in his address at the reception.
