MOSTAR, Mar 21 (FENA) - Archbishop of Vrhbosna Cardinal Vinko Puljic and Bishop of Mostar-Duvno Diocese and Apostolic Administrator of Trebinje- Mrkan, Ratko Peric, pointed out in Mostar on Wednesday that all segments of society should be involved in solving the problem of emigration from Bosnia Herzegovina.
-As for our diocese, 5000 believers left it in 2017, while 15,000 people left Herzegovina over the past 5 years - Bishop Peric said at a press conference held after the regular annual session of the Bishops' Conference of BiH held in Mostar.
On the occasion, Bishop Peric pointed out that the Church, on its part, did its best to resolve the problem of emigration, adding that it was a little bit of what the state could and should have done.
Bishop Peric added that the problem of emigration was a very complex one, and not only the problem of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also of Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria and all the countries that were under communism.
He stressed that one could not say what exactly the reason for the emigration of people from BiH was, adding that some of the reasons are unemployment and the wish fora better standard.
Cardinal Puljic believes that the insecurity, tensions, trifling with human rights, but also family upbringing are another reasons for the emigration from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Cardinal Puljic has added that Europe does not have children and needs work force, and they “absorbe” us, get educated people and meet their needs, without caring for us.
Archbishop Puljic urged the media to help create a positive climate, because the negative one is highlighted.
To remind, the Bishops’ Conference of Bosnia and Herzegovina held its regular session in Mostar, within which, among other things, the bishops expressed regret over the adoption of the Istanbul Convention in BiH, without wider debate involving all religious communities.
Bishops also discussed the current socio-political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and urged all political and social actors to put man in the focus of their efforts, to whom " each system and every institution should serve, promoting his /her dignity and all fundamental human rights and freedoms."
