Members of EC Expert Assessment Mission meet with BiH PA representatives

SARAJEVO, March 20 (FENA) - Mirsad Isaković, chairman of the Commission for the Exercise of Gender Equality of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA), and Maja Gasal-Vražalica, a member of the Commission, met today with members of the European Commission's Expert Assessment Mission on women's rights and equality of the sexes, Vanda Juršėnienė and Višnja Ljubičić.

The mission is part of the activities that the European Commission implements in the context of the preparation of the Opinion on Bosnia and Herzegovina's application for membership in the European Union, the BiH Parliamentary Assembly stated.

The mission is to provide the European Commission with an assessment of where Bosnia and Herzegovina is today concerning the effective safeguarding of basic human rights, with an emphasis on gender equality and women's rights.

The expected outcome of this mission's visit will be a report with clear recommendations for BiH, including the proposal of concrete actions needed to ensure that BiH's obligations regarding women's rights and gender equality are met.
