BiH Council of Ministers and People's Republic of China sign grant agreement

SARAJEVO, March 20 (FENA) - Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH Vjekoslav Bevanda and Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to BiH Chen Bo signed today grant agreement on economic and technical cooperation between the Council of Ministers of BiH and the People's Republic of China worth 20 million yuan (EUR 2.6 million).

Upon signing the agreement, Minister Bevanda said that they already signed a similar grant agreement in 2017 in the amount of 4.9 million euros, which ensured purchase of security equipment for the border police.

Today's agreement ensures a new grant of 2.6 million euros, and its purpose will be determined by the Council of Ministers of BiH in negotiations with the Chinese side. It will be defined by a special agreement that will be signed subsequently.

I am sure, Bevanda said, that the funds, as before, will be directed to ensuring wellbeing of all BiH citizens.

“Also, I am very pleased that our foreign trade exchange is growing, that the engagement of the ambassador and her associates is focused on getting our products to the Chinese market,” said Bevanda.

He also said that the resolving of visa arrangement will improve the tourism exchange between BiH and China.

Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Chen Bo said that for many years now the Chinese government has provided grant assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“We are pleased to see that these grants are directed towards the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina's economy and society, raising the living standard of BiH citizens, including rehabilitation projects after natural disasters, etc.,” said Ambassador Chen Bo.

According to her, the grant that is being implemented between the Government of China and the Council of Ministers of BiH is a form of providing mutual assistance among the developing countries in the world.

Ambassador Chen Bo said that the Embassy of China will be in contact with the BiH Council of Ministers, the BiH Ministry of Finance and other competent institutions to jointly define the projects or purposes for which this assistance will be directed in order to implement the agreement as soon as possible and put in the purpose of development of the economy and raising the living standard.

“At the same time, the Chinese side will further enhance cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, infrastructure, tourism, etc.” said Ambassador Chen Bo.
