MOSTAR, Mar 19 (FENA) – About 700 doctors in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton( HNC) started a general strike on Monday morning.
- Vice President of the Trade Union of Doctors and Dentists from the HNC, Elvedin Habibija, said that the strike was staged in all health institutions in the HNC, and according to the information they have from the field, almost 700 doctors have responded to the strike.
The Trade Union of doctors of medicine and dentistry of the HNC demand from the HNC Government separate negotiations and signing of a separate collective agreement for doctors of medicine and dentistry, as it has been done in other cantons, while the HNC Government insists on joint negotiations with representatives of all three unions of health care workers and o ajoint collective agreement.
Habibija said that doctors did not give up on their demands and now it was the HNC Government’s move.
He recalled that during the general strike only patients whose life was endangered would be treated as well as the patients who, because of their health condition, were threatened by permanent disability.
Oncologic patients and pregnant women will also be reated in the regular order.
