MOSTAR/ SARAJEVO, Mar 19 (FENA) - From January 1 to March 18, 2018, members of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina found 695 illegal migrants n an attempt or immediately after the illegal crossing of the state border, which is a significant increase compared to the same period of 2017.
Besides that, through engagement of police officers at the border line with Montenegro and Serbia, another 767 people were prevented from entering BiH, says the statement issued by the Border Police of BiH.
Out of the mentioned 695 illegal migrants, 157 were discovered in January, 315 in February, and 223 until March 18.
The discovered illegal migrants come from the following countries: Syria 208, Pakistan 107, Libya 78, Afghanistan 66, Palestine 49, Iran 37, Algeria 36, Morocco 22, Iraq 22, Turkey 15, Tunisia 6, Cuba , and India 5 each, Albania 3, each, Bangladesh , Jordan and Egypt 2, respectively, 1 from Somalia, and 29 people from Kosovo.
The largest number of illegal migrants were found in the areas of Trebinje, Visegrad, Zvornik, Bratunac, Gacko, Velika Kladusa, Bijeljina, Bihac , and a smaller number in the areas of Brcko, Foca, Posusje, Capljina and Gruda.
The BiH Border Police re calls that they continue to undertake a series of preventive and repressive measures and actions to monitor the state border.
Also, due to the registration of a number of cases of use of the cargo space of motor vehicles for the smuggling of migrants, the BiH Border Police has introduced a provisional measure of increased control and mandatory inspection of all cargo vehicles.
