Karan: We will celebrate 'RS Day' regardless of Constitutional Court decision

BANJA LUKA, March 13 (FENA) - A team formed by the Constitutional Affairs Committee of the RS National Assembly to prepare a response on the request of Bosniaks to challenge as unconstitutional the "RS Day" law did not reach a final position today.

Team Coordinator Rajko Kuzmanović announced that this work should be completed by March 20th, and the Assembly's Constitutional Affairs Committee will confirm the final position, which will be submitted to the BiH Constitutional Court.

They still argue that the Law on "RS Day" is constitutional and that the BiH Constitutional Court will confirm this.

Team member Siniša Karan said he would defend the position that citizens voted on a referendum in favor of January 9 as "RS Day".

The referendum was annulled by the BiH Constitutional Court, as the Bosniaks pointed out in their request, but Mr. Karan stresses that "there is no law on the BiH Constitutional Court and that that court makes decisions by outvoting."

“Does the BiH Constitutional Court with three foreigners has more authority in RS or the will of the people, of RS citizens, about 700,000 of them that voted at the referendum? We do not have a dilemma here. We will continue to celebrate 'RS Day' because this is popular will translated into law,” Mr. Karan said.

His attitude is that he will continue to mark that date, no matter what the decision of the BiH Constitutional Court will be.
