SARAJEVO, March 12 (FENA) - Dealing with the issue of full protection of human rights and the rule of law before joining the European Union (EU) is crucial for all future EU members, it was concluded at the meeting of the Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Semiha Borovac and the Deputy Minister of European Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Thijs van der Plas.
The meeting was also attended by the Dutch ambassador to BiH Reinout Vos.
Deputy Minister Van der Plas stressed the importance of the EU Enlargement Strategy, noting that the issue of enlargement was not a favorite topic in the Dutch parliament.
Minister Borovac said that meeting the conditions for EU membership was primarily a matter of meeting European standards that will directly affect the quality of life of all citizens in BiH.
She emphasized that BiH has full commitment and dedication to meeting the requirements for EU membership and that recently submitted responses to the European Commission Questionnaire, as well as the EU Enlargement Strategy, give new impetus and motivation for more active involvement in this plan.
The Dutch Deputy Minister of European Affairs said that the Netherlands will continue to support BiH bilaterally, but also through EU institutions, the BiH Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees stated.
