Meat export to Turkey through a project involving a thousand families in BiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 8 (FENA) - The FBiH Minister of Displaced Persons and Refugees Edin Ramić and Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry, Šemsudin Dedić, met today with Özgür Güven, Deputy Director General of the Agricultural Credit Cooperative of Turkey.

The ministers and a representative of the Turkish Agricultural Credit Cooperative, together with Mayor of Kalesija Sead Džafić, visited a potential location for the construction of a plant which will be doing the intake, slaughtering and packaging, located in the Kalesia region.

This is a continuation of the activities of the institutions of the two countries, with the aim of improving cooperation in the production and export of meat from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Turkey.

“This project itself has been initiated on the basis of the agreement between the BiH Presidency member Izetbegović and President Erdogan regarding the favorable export of meat from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Turkey.

Our special focus is on providing service to the returnee population, because they do not have the necessary initial livestock fund, but they have manpower and good will. Some 1,000 families in BiH will be involved in the project, which is a big economic investment,” said Minister Ramić.

Deputy Director General of the Agricultural Cooperative of Turkey Güven emphasized that in less than a month this was already a third activity of the kind with the institutions of both countries, which indicated that cooperation has been intensified, stated the FBiH Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees.

“The Republic of Turkey has approved the implementation of these projects, and we are the executor on behalf of the Turkish state. The principle behind these projects is to help the initial position of the users, through giving livestock, which they will breed and after which we will re-buy it.

The centers will be used for stock breeding, and with veterinary supervision, they will be assigned to beneficiaries with the most favorable conditions.

This is a successful practice in international trade and production cooperation, through which we operate already in other places, and Bosnia and Herzegovina has the conditions to execute this project successfully,” said Güven.
