SARAJEVO, March 1 (FENA) - Flowers were today by numerous delegations at the grave of the first president of the Presidency of BiH Alija Izetbegović at Kovači Cemetery in Sarajevo, and at the Eternal Flame Memorial on the occasion of the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The delegations were composed of numerous representatives of all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The BiH Presidency Member Bakir Izetbegović said that it is necessary to teach young people to love BiH, and noted that BiH has good people, but that it needs "smarter politicians".
He emphasized that t is on every one of us to be improving our country.
“Yesterday was a great day for BiH, a day that will lead us into stabilization and progress. We submitted the responses to the Questionnaire of the European Commission and it obliges us to work on the progress of the country in every possible way, from economy, social justice, and so on. These are all obligations for all of in BiH,” said Izetbegović.
Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers Denis Zvizdić said that this is one of the most significant dates in BiH's history, when the citizens instead of hegemonic ideas chose the path of independence, sovereignty and integrity of BiH as a state.
“This day, unfortunately, is not marked throughout the whole of BiH, and I am convinced that the generations of Bosniaks, Bosnian Serbs and Croats will come to celebrate 1 March as the Independence Day of BiH,” said Zvizdić.
He added that the goal is to continue building BiH in the spirit of unity in diversity, communion and in a spirit of overall prosperity.
“It is important for BiH to progress towards the realization of the main goal, which is European integration and that BiH celebrates all its future holidays as a member of the European Union,” said the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić.
