FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, February 26 (FENA) - The BiH Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees, with Financial Support of the Swiss Government today launched the first interactive portal for the diaspora from Bosnia and Herzegovina, www.dijaspora.mhrr.gov.ba.

“The primary goal of this portal is not a mere publication of information but the creation of a platform for two-way communication between BiH and its diaspora,” said BiH Minister of Human Rights and Refugees Semiha Borovac at today's promotion of the portal.

In addition to news, documents and projects of interest to the BiH diaspora, the portal will include public calls, business opportunities, along with giving diaspora the opportunity to participate in the creation of public policies within the competence of the Ministry and other institutions.

The portal provides a unified address book of institutions in BiH, as well as all the BiH diplomatic and consular missions in the world.

Of particular importance for the diaspora, as highlighted by the president of the Bosnian-American Academy of Science and Art Nirvana Pištoljević, is that the portal offers the possibility to make available in one place all the laws that must be respected, for example, when registering a company in BiH.

Most emigrants, she clarifies, do not understand or find it difficult to get around in a very complicated administration, so every piece of content on this portal is of exceptional value.

Ambassador of Switzerland to Bosnia and Herzegovina Andrea Rauber Saxer invited BiH citizens who live in and outside of it to actively use this portal and share their ideas and expertise in particular fields of expertise.

“BiH diaspora is the source and wealth of information, skills and values that can be of use to their homeland. There are 60,000 people with BiH origins living in Switzerland. Many of them are already interested in supporting their homeland,” the Swiss Ambassador to BiH pointed out.

The portal was created within the framework of the "Diaspora for Development" project, which is the project of the Swiss Government and the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
