SARAJEVO, February 23 (FENA) - BiH Presidency Chairman Dragan Čović and BiH Presidency Member Bakir Izetbegović, at a meeting with the Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria, Karin Kneissl, highlighted the commitment to continue the reform process and the need to make additional efforts to intensify activities for meeting the conditions for receiving membership candidate status in the European Union.
The BiH Presidency members welcomed the Minister, expressing the conviction that today's visit would further enhance the traditionally good bilateral relations between BiH and the Republic of Austria.
There are no open issues between the two countries, which is a good basis for the development of overall political and economic relations, concluded the collocutors of the meeting. They also expressed satisfaction with the level of economic cooperation, supported by the fact that Austria is the first in terms of investments in BiH.
The BiH Presidency members informed Minister Kneissl about the current political situation in the country, with a special focus on Euro-Atlantic integration.
The collocutors exchanged views on the amendments to the BiH Election Law and expressed their commitment to intensify efforts to reach an agreement on these issues.
Federal Minister Kneissl's visit to BiH, her first visit in the region, indicates that Austria attaches special importance to the development of friendly relations and bilateral cooperation. In this light, the BiH Presidency members expressed gratitude for the Austrian support to the European integration process and the strengthening of ties with the EU, as well as the high positioning of BiH when it comes to Austria's foreign policy, the BiH Presidency stated.
