SARAJEVO, February 23 (FENA) - BiH Presidency Chairman Dragan Čović said, during today's visit to the Archives of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which last year marked 70 years of its existence, that work should be done to preserve archival material so that one could show to the future generations this enormous wealth of BiH.
“In today's meeting with Čović, we have received the BiH Presidency's support for the participation of the Archives of BiH in the UNESCO project "Dialogue for the Future", in which we will ask UNESCO for donations for the construction of the most modern reading room in BiH that will be at the service of domestic and foreign researchers, with professional staff and equipment,” said the Director of the Archives of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Saša Klepić, after the meeting.
Mr. Čović visited the premises intended for the construction of the said reading room in the Archives of BiH, while the employees informed him about the latest exhibits of archival material.
“I want to be available to you and I am pleased to be part of this great project so that we can protect this material, which represents a huge cultural and civilizational wealth, for the generations to come. I know that we will have difficulty allocating significant funds from the budgets for the upcoming activities, but there is so much interest from all international institutions for protecting the archival material,” said Mr. Čović.
Director Klepić pointed out that the BiH Presidency intensively followed the work of the Archives on the international stage.
“There is a number of protocols and memoranda with other national archives of countries in the region and countries that are important for the history of BiH. The Presidency has always stood by us, and I thank them most warmly for this," Mr. Klepić said after the BiH Presidency Chairman Dragan Čović visited the Archives of BiH.
