SREBRENICA, February 22 (FENA) - A delegation of the Franciscan Order from the United States, Congo, Singapore, India and Italy visited the Municipality of Srebrenica today.

A member of the Franciscan Province of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Herzegovina and member of the International Commission for Dialogue on the Level of the Franciscan Order in the World, Friar Iko Skoko, said that the Franciscan Order operates in 110 countries in the world, and has about 15,000 members advocating for dialogue.

"The Commission's intention is to promote dialogue in the world and to encourage all friars around the world, who advocate reconciliation among people and dialogue between people and their cultures, among religions. Last year we had a meeting in Rome, and this year I asked for it to be in BiH so that others could see how we live here," he said.

During the visit to BiH, the Franciscans from around the world visited two provinces and today they visited the Potočari Memorial Center.

The Head of the Sacred Heart Parish of Zvornik, Bratunac and Srebrenica, Friar Joso Ošorlić said that, at a meeting held in the cabinet of the Mayor of Srebrenica, Mladen Grujičić, they proposed that the Catholic cemetery in Srebrenica is reorganized.

"One part of the city cemetery would be reserved for Catholics and the other for Orthodox believers. Our desire is that the Franciscans have their own street in Srebrenica because their roots are from Srebrenica. We expect that a Franciscan church in Srebrenica, that was set on fire in the 17th century, will be reconstructed, and that it will be a gathering place for all people of good intentions. It is finally time to start spiritual and material reconstruction," Friar Ošorlić said.
