SARAJEVO, February 16 (FENA) - Members of the Association "Mothers of Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves" said today in a statement that the commander of the Special Police Brigade and a member of the command of the police forces of the Ministry of the Interior of Republika Srpska, Goran Sarić, had committed genocide in July 1995.
According to them, he had under his command members of special units from the Republika Srpska police and a special unit from Serbia, and the Republika Srpska Government's commission for the events that occurred in and around Srebrenica found that there were three special detachments from Serbia - “Kajman” (transl. “cayman”), “Plavi” (“blue”) and “Škorpioni” (“scorpions”).
They reminded that the unit “Škorpioni” is already well known to all but that no one has been held responsible for these crimes from the other two detachments.
“There is evidence that these special units, along with other Serb forces, committed genocide against Bosniaks in July 1995,” claim the members of the Movement “Mothers of Srebrenica and Žepa enclaves”.
The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina will today hand down the first instance verdict to Goran Sarić, charged with genocide committed in the Srebrenica area in July 1995.
Sarić is charged with commanding police forces involved in the search, disarmament, forcible transfer of women, children and elders, and the separation of men and boys who were executed in July 1995 in Srebrenica.
In addition to crimes committed in the municipalities of Bratunac and Srebrenica, Sarić is also charged with crimes in the Zvornik area.
