Novalić-Ferguson: It is crucial to continue with implementation of Reform Agenda

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, February 13 (FENA) - Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Fadil Novalić met today in Sarajevo with British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Edward Ferguson, and the heads of the program funds of the Government of the United Kingdom Richard Dewdney and Melinda Simmons.

Novalić and his guests discussed the results of the implementation of projects financed by the Good Governance Fund of the British Government, which have been implemented in the past three years in the field of improving the business climate, public administration reform and strengthening the financial sector throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Both sides emphasized the importance of adopting the legislation regulating the establishment of a one-stop shop online registration system for companies in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They also stressed the need for implementation of the remaining reforms from the Reform Agenda, such as laws that contribute to relieving the burden off the economy and workers.

Ambassador Ferguson said that since 2014 to date, the UK Government has invested millions of pounds in supporting the implementation of key reforms in BiH.

“I am very proud of the results we have achieved together with Prime Minister of FBiH and his team over the past three years. Our cooperation covered a wide range of topics, and we made good initial steps to shift the domestic economy from the public to the private sector. Together we have developed strategies for key sectors - energy and transport, which will further contribute to development and investments in these sectors.

I hope that the FBiH Government will quickly adopt the laws necessary for establishing a one-stop shop for online registration system for companies which will make a huge difference for investors and entrepreneurs in BiH,” said Ambassador Ferguson.

Prime Minister Novalic thanked Ambassador Ferguson and stressed that the support provided so far by the Government of the United Kingdom has been targeted, clearly defined, but also extremely flexible, which, as he said, has been crucial for the complex conditions in BiH.
