Dutch 2.9 million euro grant for modernization of Nevesinje - Berkovići road

SARAJEVO, February 13 (FENA) - Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH Vjekoslav Bevanda signed a grant with Government of the Netherlands for modernization of regional road R-435 between Nevesinje and Berkovići.

It is a road 32 km long, which connects municipalities of Nevesinje and Berkovići, which was built at the end of 19th century and is currently in a very bad condition, which makes it impossible to drive over 40 km/h.

This project will modernize the regional road and improve accessibility and possibility for economic growth of both municipalities with over 15 000 residents.

Grant amounting to 2.9 million euros was approved by ORIO on behalf of Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of Holland.

Restoration of the road is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.

Aim of the ORIO project is to contribute to development of social and private sector and three ORIO grants have been approved for BiH amounting to over 13 million euros, it was stated.
